The RM of Sifton is located in Southwestern Manitoba. It was incorporated on December 22, 1883 and named after John Wright Sifton, a railroad contractor. Communities within the boundaries of the municipality are the Local Urban District (LUD) of Oak Lake, Griswold, Deleau, Belleview and Routledge.  Neighboring communities are Virden, Pipestone, Kenton, Alexander, Hartney, and Souris.

In the heart of the Rural Municipality you will find the Oak Lake resort area (Oak Lake Beach, Oak Island Resort, and Cherry Point) and the Plum Creek Marsh. Bordering to the North lays the picturesque Assiniboine Valley.
